The purpose of this investigation is to reconstruct the contacts, influences and relations of Raúl Hestnes Ferreira, seeking to understand the impact on his works, the fruit of the exchange between Europe and the United States, in the initial period of his activity as architect, between 1960 and 1974, at which time it projects the SAAL of Quinta da Fonsecas.In order to cross the neo-realist literary universe followed by his father, José Gomes Ferreira, with his work, we can not fail to analyze his family nucleus, emphasizing the figure of his paternal grandfather, Alexandre Ferreira, by the strong republican conviction, as well as his circle of friends, standing out the family of Francisco Keil do Amaral.
