Short Bio
Filipa Lopes holds a PhD in History, with a specialization in Historical Archivistics, from the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH, Lisbon, Portugal) and the École nationale des chartes (Paris, France). Her doctoral research focused on the house and archive of the Viscounts of Vila Nova de Cerveira.
Supported by the FCT, Fulbright, and Pessoa Programs, Filipa undertook research stays at the École nationale des chartes (2017–2018) and at the University of California, Riverside (2020). She has also been invited to teach at NOVA FCSH (2021–2022) and at the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (2010–2013).
In addition to her academic research and involvement in national and international projects, Filipa has professional experience as an archivist. She has worked at the historical archive of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Portugal and at the Arquivo de História Social of the Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Universidade de Lisboa.
Filipa holds a BA in History and an MA in Medieval and Renaissance History from Universidade do Porto (Portugal), where she also completed one year of graduate studies in Information Science at the Faculty of Engineering.
